SUMMARY: Aassists with preschool programs including maintaining a clean and safe environment; interacting with children in play; serving snacks; assisting children; and assisting with program operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides assistance with preschool programs; assists in supervising children for adherence with safety and behavior standards and practices; maintains a clean and safe program environment.
- Interacts with children during play time arts and crafts; monitors child behavior and practices appropriate discipline techniques to maintain a positive and effective program environment.
- Communicates with staff, students and the community; responds to routine questions and inquiries; maintains confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Gathers and serves snacks; maintains cleanliness of work areas and spaces.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- State Licensing Requirements as follows:
- Must provide documentation of one of the following: High School diploma, G.E.D. or official transcript with degree confer date or proof of current and continuous enrollment in high school or a high school equivalency program – must be 16 years of age or older.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
- Possess a negative Mantoux TB Skin Test administered within 12 months of hire date or a health care provider's written and dated statement stating incumbent is free from infectious active TB issued within 6 months of hire date.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's card.
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
- Basic mathematical concepts.
- Occupational hazards and applicable safety principles and practices.
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
- Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations.
- Customer service principles.
- Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions:
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, school environment.
