SUMMARY: To assist in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the teacher in planning and implementing the activities/work assignments for individual students, e.g., individuals and small groups.
- Follow a lesson plan, chart or guide created by teacher(s) and/or instructional assistant.
- Moves about classroom to help students and provide support.
- Assist the teacher in evaluating the progress of students.
- Assist teacher in maintaining positive behavior and control to ensure student safety.
- Maintain adequate and legible records concerning students whom they support.
- Respond to new ideas, methods and suggestions from teachers and aides.
- Consult frequently with the teacher about the needs, suggestions, questions, problems and progress of students.
- Demonstrate professional and flexible attitude/rapport with other staff members.
- Demonstrate appropriate interaction with the students in the learning environment.
- Assist the teacher(s) with preparation of instructional materials.
- Maintain all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees and community members.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Remain current in existing and emerging technology and software.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- AA degree OR 60 college credit hours OR successful completion of Dysart approved exam.
- Experience in K-12 public education preferred.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Obtain and maintain a Valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
- Basic mathematical, reading and writing concepts.
- Filing and record-keeping principles.
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
- Customer service principles.
- Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
- Modern office technology.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
