CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY:
This class is the first class in a four-level Transportation Support Series devoted to supporting the safe and efficient operation of the Dysart Unified School District’s transportation system.
Incumbents provide skilled clerical and specialized administrative support including receiving and processing a variety of reports and bus video requests. Monitors bus video, GPS equipment and bus video equipment for irregularities and advises supervisor. As assigned, initiates resolutions on malfunctions; prepares correspondence and accurately maintains a variety of records. Informs staff on proper use of Electronic Vehicle Inspection Report (EVIR) and related equipment; provides information and assistance to District staff and the public regarding transportation matters; prepares a variety of reports; and assists with dispatch operations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Provides a variety of administrative and technical support related to receiving and responding to inquiries and requests related to incident reports, student bus rider referrals, complaints from District staff and the public, and requests for bus video recordings.
• Provides assistance and information to District staff and the public regarding transportation procedures and regulations; and directs persons to appropriate staff as necessary.
• Inspects GPS equipment; verifies proper operation; may perform minor repairs; determines need for parts; contacts vendor to resolve GPS malfunctions and arranges for equipment repair.
• Inspects bus video; verifies proper operation; may perform minor repairs; determines need for parts; contacts vendor to resolve malfunctions.
• Performs review of bus video and records event timelines as directed by supervisor; maintains bus video files and folders; prepares copies of bus video files in response to public records requests as authorized; assures confidentiality of all video files and records.
• Gathers various data and information pertaining student bus riders, employees, District vehicles and inputs applicable data into transportation programs and software.
• Maintains a variety of files, such as student bus referrals, incident reports and related logs, vehicle mileage and idling, student ridership and contracted transportation services in order to prepare related reports.
• Assists dispatch office staff in answering telephones and two-way Physical Performance Test (PTT) devices to receive and provide information about bus routes and students with drivers, parents, staff, and others; contacts law enforcement and emergency services of bus accidents and incidents.
• Assists in billing process by providing mileage and service time information; prepares forms and related documentation to support billing; assists in preparing invoices as necessary.
• Assists office staff in obtaining quotes and ordering a variety of specialized equipment and supplies used in the transportation of students with special needs; maintains inventory of school crossing guard supplies and communicates with schools regarding requests for supplies.
• Performs a variety of clerical duties such as typing email, lists, checking forms, filing materials, proofreading, ordering supplies and setting meeting rooms for training.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED and two years of full time related work experience and contact with public. One year of responsible work experience in the operation and coordination of technology systems and mobile equipment is desirable.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
• Valid Arizona Class D License
• Valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Moderate Work: The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and/or exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.

 

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment.
