CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY:

The Community Liaison is charged with setting a collaborative leadership example that will encourage cooperation and good working relationships within the district and in the community.  They will build and maintain long-term relationships, attend fundraising and community events, and evaluate the effectiveness of past programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

·         Report to and work closely with the Director of Community relations to seek their involvement in policy decisions,              fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the district programs and events throughout the community.

·         Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations, businesses and community partners.

·         Works with a variety of district programs and departments to prepare and propose annual budgets, or may oversee            the budget preparations of a designee, explains increases and new plans from one year to the next, and is                        prepared to answer questions about budget items.

·         Partners with the communication department to prepare and distribute marketing and other communications                      efforts which includes reports, newsletters, fundraising letters and event flyers.

·         Build partnerships and long-term relationships with key community members and potential donors in order to                    support programs that positively impact student achievement.

·         Plan, coordinate and attend fund raising activities and events.

·         Oversee the distribution of scholarships and grants and evaluates their effectiveness.

·         Meets with donors and prospective donors to create and foster relationships.

·         Develops processes for grant submissions.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor degree or equivalent in education and three years related experience required.

OR

 

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.

 

LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:

·         Valid Level I Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

·         Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations.

·         Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.

·         Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.

·         Strong written and oral communication skills.

·         Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.

·         Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate on projects.

·         Strong public speaking ability.

 

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

Moderate Work:  Exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.  Meeting with community members may occur both on and off site.

 

Working Conditions

Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment, occasionally work will be performed at events that are outside, or at another venue.  Close and distant vision may be required as well as the ability to travel in the community.
