SUMMARY: To assist in providing a well organized, smoothly functioning before/after school program environment in which students can take full advantage of the activities and available resource materials.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist in supervision of children at a District Child Care Program.
  • Assist with daily operation of the program to continue meeting licensing, fire, and sanitation requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and neat program environment.
  • Use appropriate language with both children and parents.
  • Provide adequate supervision both inside and outside.
  • Practice appropriate discipline techniques with children.
  • Maintain a cooperative, flexible attitude accepting constructive criticism.
  • Maintain a professional manner including confidentiality and appropriate communication with all parties (staff, students and community).
  • Provide good example for students with appropriate dress, grooming and cleanliness.
  • Arrive organized and prepared adequately for each day’s activities.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Education/Certification:

  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
  • State Licensing Requirements as follows:
    • Must provide documentation of one of the following: High School diploma, G.E.D. or official transcript with degree confer date or proof of current and continuous enrollment in high school or a high school equivalency program – must be 16 years of age or older.
    • Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification
    • Possess a negative Mantoux TB Skin Test administered within 12 months of hire date or a health care provider's written and dated statement stating incumbent is free from infectious active TB issued within 6 months of hire date
    • Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's card

Experience:

  • Experience in working with school age children preferred.

Abilities: 

  • Read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals
  • Write general correspondence and speak effectively with others
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms
  • Apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee occasionally will lift up to 40 lbs., walk, sit, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, taste and smell. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hand and arms. Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, distinguish colors, depth perception and focus.
